17 Mar 42; Accepted appointment and executed oath of office as Ensign, C-V (S), U.S. Naval Reserve, to rank from 5 February 1942.
17 Mar 1942; Placed on inactive duty.
15 Jul 1942; Reported to the U.S. Naval Training School, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire for temporary active duty under instruction.
8 Sep 1942; Detached from Dartmouth College and transferred to the USS BULLFINCH for temporary duty under instruction in Mine Assembly. (Reported 11 September 1942).
24 Oct 1942; Detached from the USS BULLFINCH and transferred to the Bureau of Ordnance, Navy Department, Washington, D. C. for temporary duty pending further assignment by the Bureau of Naval Personnel. (Reported 29 October 1942).
