Military Training

Enlisted in the Naval Aviation Cadet Training Program, 1 April 1953, Naval Air Station, Oakland, California, with classes from the University of California, Berkeley. Was later assigned to the Naval Air Station, Whitney Field, Florida, for flight training.
Graduated from the Naval Aviation Training Program, 30 August 1954 and honorably discharged.

Commisioned

Second Lieutenant, Marine Corps Reserve, 30 August 1954, Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas: accepted appointment and signed to active duty same date.

Active Service Assignments

Sep 54, transferred from NAS, Corpus Christi to Aircraft, Fleet Marine Force, Pacific, Marine Air Station, El Toro (Santa Ana) California, for operational training flights.
Oct 54 to Apr 55, assigned to Marine Attack Squadron 223, Marine Corps Aircraft Group 15, Fleet Marine Base, Marine Air Station, El Toro, where he remained in continuous active duty.
In active Service: 3 years, 11 months, 22 days, including prior service in USNR.

Lieutenant Bellamy was killed 4 April 1955 when the jet dive bomber he was piloting crash-dived into the El Toro Marine Air Base bombing range.
