Appointed Second Lieutenant, AUS, October 1943 and assigned to ACS, The Infantry School, Ft. Benning, Ga.; completed training program 14 January 1943.

COMMISSIONED Second Lieutenant, Infantry Reserve, AUS, 14 January 1943; accepted appointment and entered on active duty same date.
