18 Nov 1940; Enlisted in the United States Navy as Seaman Apprentice at Naval Receiving Station, San Francisco.
19 Nov 1940; Reported to Naval Training Station, San Diego, California.
13 Jan 1941; Reported to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington.
3 Feb 1941; Reported aboard the USS Monssen.
18 Mar 1941; Rating changed to Seaman, second class.
8 July 1941; Reported to Fleet Sound School, Key West, Florida.
4 Aug 1941; Reported aboard the USS Monssen.
1 Nov 1942; Rating changed to Seaman, first class.

Seaman, First Class, Thomas Ross Jordan was officially reported missing in action, 13 November 1942 going down with his ship USS Monassen following the Third Battle of Savo Island.
In compliance with Section 5 of Public Law 490, as amended, death is presumed to have occurred on 14 November 1943.
