Appointed Aviation Cadet, Army Air Corps, 31 June 1942 and reported for active duty 9 July 1942.

Sep 1942 to Mar 1943; AAF Advanced Flying School, Mather Field, Sacramento, California.
Graduated from the AAF Cadet Training Program as a Pilot, 2 March 1943 and honorably discharged.
